Bon Voyage!

I hope 600 blogs are enough to keep you busy for awhile, because I'm going on vacation! My wife and I are going on a vacation to celebrate our first anniversary from August 1st to the 12th. In the meantime, be sure you've checked out all the "Bestest Blogs of the Day" . To keep you busy and entertained while I'm gone I'll be having a little contest. Details coming later today. Also, I've introduced a new feature to this site called "Premium Blogs." To learn a little bit about why this change came about, click here. To find out how you can make your blog "Premium" and what you'll get in return, click here.

Introducing...PREMIUM BLOGS!

Ok, so first of all I need to say thank you to everyone who has made this site a huge success...I'm talking to both those who have added a link and those who have visited the links and found new blogs that they loved! Because let's face it, there's no point in having links up if no one's visited them! The problem I'm faced with now is that there are just simply too many blogs in my sidebar (over 500)! If you've actually made it all the way through the 'Personal Blogs' and onto the other categories, then you are truly a dedicated visitor with a lot of time on your hands. So, I've come up with this Premium Blog idea to help combat this problem...(thanks to one of my sponsors, "Link Experiment," for the partial inspiration on this idea). Another problem that Premium Blogs also solves is the way I order the blogs. Alphabetical seems so arbitrary and unfair to those with great blogs that start with crappy letters. Also, what makes Personal

How to Become a Premium Blog...

To donate, please click the "Paypal Donate" button near the top-right of the page. Premium blogs are a service where a very small donation (minimum $1.00, increments of 25 cents) can earn you a lot more exposure. Here is what your donation will get you: (1) Show up more often in the "Random Blog" button! The "Random Blog" button works like choosing names from a hat. By default, your blog's name gets put in once for free when you join the link exchange . For every dollar you donate, I'll place your blogs name in the hat one more time. This is a major way to generate traffic. (2) Appear in the sidebar! The sidebar shows up on the front page, as well as EVERY OTHER PAGE. The top 100 Premium Blog donators will have their blogs listed here. Furthermore, the blog with the top donation will have their category on top (no more having "Personal Blogs" on top arbitrarily), the 2nd highest will have their category 2nd (unless they're p

The Tome of Communism I was surprised when I found out that this blog is run by a 15-year-old. Without insulting blogs by other 15-year-olds I've read, let's just say I think this kid could have a great career in journalism ahead of him. This blog isn't about communism in the normal sense, but rather, as Woozie describes it, "everything I hate I deem communist." That's not to say that the blog doesn't have a political slant. There's lots of insightful, well-written, political stuff, like this Michael Moore piece ; but there's other stuff, such as this hilarious video of Tom Cruise . Unlike other blogs I've featured that I felt were very interesting, but didn't have the visitors they deserved, Woozie has developed quite a following already at his Tome of Communism and I'm just hoping to help add to it. So please check this 15-year-old phenom out and tell him "The Bestest Blog of All-Time" sent you.

Clip Frenzy "Funny, Hilarious, and Crazy Videos From Around the World Wide Web." That's John's self-description of his blog, and I don't think I could put it any better myself. Well, funny and hilarious are kinda synonyms, so maybe I'd strike one of them...but anyway, I'm getting off topic! This site is incredible...its layout is very professional looking (unlike mine, haha), the content delivers on the hilarity, there are even polls and forums to keep you entertained. All this site needs is the "Bestest Blog" touch to help get its daily traffic flow as high as it truly deserves to be! I thought I'd include a link to a clip of each type of video promised in the description... Funny: Dave Chappelle "Grand Theft Auto" Spoof Hilarious: Will Ferrell/Christopher Walken "More Cowbell" SNL Sketch Crazy: Amazing Ukulele Player So, please please PLEASE check out John's "Clip Frenzy" ...I mean I shouldn't even h

To Love, Honor, and Dismay This site comes to us from Doctor Andrew McAllister. On his blog, Dr. Andrew explores how relationships work, writes stories about relationships, and provides advice for anyone who sends him questions. If you'd like to send Dr. Andrew a "Dismaying Story" of your own, you can email him at LoveHonorAndDismay at yahoo dot com . You definitely don't have to sign your real name, but you should think up a cute pseudo-name like you've seen in those "Dear Abby" columns like "Suddenly Insecure," "Weary Sparring Partner," or "Displaced Father" (click on a name to read their question, as well as the advice they were given). I knew I would be writing about this blog today and went to his site to get a little more in-depth look at it. That's when I knew I had made the right choice, because I saw a lot of positive comments left by readers who had already stumbled upon his blog. For instance, one read

Google Adsense is Nonsense!

Yesterday started as a happy day. Finally, I had reached the $100 minimum required by Google Adsense to receive a payment. The happiness lasted about 2 hours, because I soon received this email: "It has come to our attention that invalid clicks have been generated on the Google ads on your site(s). We have therefore disabled your Google AdSense account." There's no specifics, there's no appeal process, there's no only taking the money generated by these mystery "invalid clicks." All $100 is gone! And you know what...this is the 2nd time this has happened to me!! Last time I only made it up to $85, but I was so close. I can honestly say that I followed their guidelines. I read through the entire 'Terms of Service' the second time around. My wife even asked me, "You're doing Adsense again, won't the same thing just happen?" I said, "No, I'm gonna read the rules and make absolutely sure to follow them!" So,

Foxxfyrre's Honk'n'Holl'r Foxxfyrre (Frank) is the "Spread Your Smile!" contest winner from a few days ago (there was one other submission, but I have no clue who it is...if it's you, let me know so I can list you as a Runner-up). I'm actually kind of glad that Frank was the winner, because his blog is pretty good. It's a collection of fictitious stories inspired by his co-workers and patrons at a large hotel. To read Frank's introductory post, click here. The whole idea for the blog stemmed from he and another co-worker making fun of some of the people they have to deal with...but, just to be safe, they decided to use code names for everyone (Cheers inspired code names!). So, please visit Frank's humorous, partly true (which parts, we'll never know) stories at "Foxxfyrre's Honk'n'Holl'r" and let him know "Bestest Blog" linked you up!

A World of Bloggers This blog choice is designed especially for those visitors who are reading from outside of the United States (though, Americans feel free to check it out too). Rhys has a bit of a link exchange going on at his blog, kind of like I do here. But he doesn't accept just any old non-porno, non-spam blog like I do. Rhys is looking to exchange links with exactly 1 blog from every country. (I say sorry to my fellow Americans because I have already claimed the USA spot). Rhys really has a creative concept here, but is just getting started with only 4 countries linked at the time of publishing (USA, Bangladesh, Burkino Faso, and New Zealand). So there are still plenty of countries left...lots of ones I know I have regular visitors in: Canada, Mexico, United Kingdom, Australia, etc. So if you're interested in becoming the blogging representative for your country, or if you'd just like to surf some culturally diverse blogs, please visit Rhys's "A World

Becoming "Bestest Blog of the Month" for August...

The title of "Bestest Blog of the Month" is now up for bids . Yes, that's right this title is an auctioned one. My rationale: anyway willing to spend money advertising their blog must have a pretty good blog! Don't worry, becoming "Bestest Blog of the Day" is still free for anyone who joins my link exchange program . Last month's winner, at a bid of $16.50, has already had their link and description viewed by a total of 46,670 unique visitors with 1/3 of the month to go still. That'll be about $0.00024 per visitor by the time the month is over (that's only 1 cent per 50 visitors)! So, if you're interesting in gaining some relatively cheap exposure for your blog, please view my eBay listing . The starting bid is only a penny!

I've Got a Few Things to Say First of all, I just want to say that whatever words I use to describe this site probably won't do it justice and you should just go and visit already. Still reading? The stubborn type, eh? Alright then... Penny Ricketts is a 46 year old mother who is planning the wedding of her dreams! Let's see, she's got the vows and bridal registry done, she's got the something borrowed and something new ...things are going well...except for one minor catch. She doesn't have the man yet! That's right, Penny is planning her wedding without her groom. But don't worry, she'll have an application up soon for you to apply...and after you see the lavish details of the wedding, you'll be hard-pressed not to! Penny has a great sense of humor which I can do no justice in this description. So, please, just visit "I've Got a Few Things to Say" already and tell Penny "Bestest Blog" sent ya. P.S. to Penny: If

Another Milestone!

Today, I exchanged links with my 500th blog! Incidentally, the blog was Hunna's Happenings and the prize is the link right there a few words ago...it could (should) result in a few extra visits. Be sure to check out the Recent Additions for all 28 blogs I've entered so far today (yes, 28, I was a little behind on my linking.) Also, don't forget to check out the "Bestest" of the day below!

Twenty-three and Counting This personal blog is run by "Sara" ( an admitted alias ). Sara has come across some blogging theories that I have long held as universal truths: (1) "Blogs that keep my attention the longest have a focus." (2) "As a rule, daily journals are kind of boring." But Sara found herself without a definite "focus" to maintain throughout her blog's lifetime. Her solution: choose a new focus every Sunday, post 5 theme-related blogs Monday-Friday, and do a recap on Satuday (plus, she may throw in a "journal"-ish entry on Saturday as well.) To read the entire story of Sara's blog format dilemma, click here . So, Week #1 is in the books. The topic: Best Loved Books (pun intended). To see the Saturday recap, you can click here . So, it's barely Monday when I'm posting this and Week #2's topic has just been chosen: Life Changing Moments . I think that Sara has come across a fabulous twist to the

The "Not-So" News July 1st is finally here, and with it comes the inaugural edition of the "Bestest Blog of the Day." I've had a bunch of people tell me they liked my idea for this blog. Well, I LOVE jbwritergirl's idea for her blog. If the Daily Show were a newspaper, then this might be what you get. On her blog, jbwritergirl makes up humorous news stories, because, as she puts it, "the real news sucks, scares you, pisses you off, etc." I'm not sure if she has a journalism background, but by the professional way she writes her articles, you'd think it was a quote from your local paper. At times, I'd be reading through an article, laughing, and thinking to myself, "I can't believe that happened." Then I reminded myself, it didn't happen! These stories may be made up, but many of them definitely COULD happen. So, I highly recommend you check out The "Not-So" News and tell her that "The Bestest Blo

Inspirational Wallpapers I have a section devoted to Religion blogs, though I hadn't featured one yet! I figured it was about time... This site is run by Cindy and it features a collection of wallpapers for your desktop of pretty pictures with inspirational bible verses. If you're at all religious, I'd recommend seeing if you can't find a nice landscape of a rainbow or a lakeside sunset with a quote that inspires you. Cindy has put together quite a collection, and of course, they're all free. Also worth mentioning, Cindy is participating in the 2006 Blogathon on July 29-30. She'll have to make one post every half hour to "complete" the Blogathon. Cindy is trying to raise money to benefit persecuted Christians. If you're interested in sponsoring her, you can click here , or follow one of the links on her site. Since I only do "Reruns" on Sunday, I thought I'd feature this blog about as close to Sunday as I could get. So, please

Spread Your Smile! The idea behind this blog is simple: "Smiles are contagious...it's time to infect the world!" All you do is email Jean-Paul a photo of yourself smiling, and he puts it up (anonymously, of course, your email or other personal info is not attached). I have to admit that seeing all the people he already has up did make me smile, and that's not just the new job shining through. Since I think this is such a cute idea, I'm gonna give my readers a little extra motivation to send in their pictures. I am going to award the prize of "Bestest Blog of the Day" for sometime next week to someone who clearly features a reference to my blog in their photo (i.e. computer monitor, piece of paper, BE CREATIVE!...if you want to use a shortened URL you can use BestestBlog.com). In the event that multiple people participate (and I'm not sure if that's a safe assumption or not), ties will be broken on the basis of creativity. But all participan

Anonymous Educator I chose this blog in honor of a very important event that happened in my life today: I was offered a high school teaching position. Hooray! This blog comes to us from my fellow teacher, known only as Anonymous. Though it is the summer, off-season for us teachers, so most of his current blogging is from the trip he and his girlfriend are on in Mexico. He even grew a moustache , but shaved it off under the pressure of his girlfriend (this is a funny story is why I bring it up). I thought I'd include some of my favorite posts from back during the school year too: teachers hate parents , faculty party , 49 minutes of hell , and grade obfuscation . Before you know it, the summer will be almost over, lesson plans will be being prepped, and Staples will be swarming with kids buying paste and other scholastic must-have's. So check out Anonymous from the "Anonymous Educator" as he tells stories that he wouldn't be able to tell if he used his r

So effective immediately, you'll see a new link in the "Helpful Site Links" section entitled "Recent Additions" where you'll be able to find every blog that has joined in the past 7 days. I think this is a great idea and my only regret is that I didn't implement it sooner. Thanks Brian! Flip This Body Julie is a 27-year-old musical theatre actress from Chicago. She currently weighs in at 200 pounds. Her goal: to "flip her body" down to 140 pounds in less than a year. Anyone who's ever tried to lose weight knows it's tough. So Julie is hoping that chroncling her attempt for loads of friendly visitors on the internet will give her the motivation to succeed--maybe she'll even inspire some others to lose weight too. As with any good diet attempt, Julie has posted her "before" photos . She also has a little graphic at the top of the page to keep track of the weight as she drops it. By the way, the dieting system she is attempting is called Nutrisystem. While I don't know anything about this, Julie has a nice explanation of it here . I know I'm rooting for Julie and I'm sure many of you will also be rooting after you read this. So, please stop by Julie's "Flip This Body" and lend her some words of encouragem

The Limericker So, I'm sure we've all heard a limerick before. BUT , have you ever seen a blog dedicated to them? I thought not... But it's not just wall-to-wall limericks, oh no no no. Sometimes Anonick will blog about how busy he's been , and throw in a limerick on the subject. He has a serious post about role models , with a role-model limerick included. But sometimes, it's strictly just limericks (these 3 links are all "llamaricks"). So if you like funny little poems with a splash or self-introspection and serious topics (and really, who doesn't?), please check out Anonick's The Limericker and tell him "Bestest Blog" sent ya!

The Laughorist As you may have guessed from the title, this blog comes to us from the "Funny Blogs" category. This is a really hilarious blog, one of the first blogs I linked on here. I've been meaning to give Paulie the award for awhile, but I kept forgetting. Sorry Paulie, I blame my ADHD. (But you must know all about this from your post on ADHD , note my use of parentheses). The Laughorist recently hosted the "E Pluribus Unum" Humor Contest , where the goal was to come up with a new, humo u rous slogan for the USA. The winners? Both people who found his site through my site here. Click here to see what they'll be printing on our pennies any day now... In any case, it seems that Paulie's been getting some nice attention even with me forgetting to give him the award. The winners received their choice of prizes from "The Laughorist Store" . Westward Ho Folks In his blog, Terry Ploeckelmann (wow, what a last name) "chronicles (via a diary and photos) a trip that Terry and his wife Stefi are taking across the U.S. singing in nursing homes. Beginning July 1st in New York, and ending August 1st in New Mexico." So the trip is just getting started, but there are quite a few good posts up already. One thing I really like about this site is how Terry describes all of the towns he visits, both with words and some good photography. And, with about 20 stops along the way, there's a chance he'll be stopping in a town you're familiar with. Click here for their itenarary , maybe they'll be stopping in your home town. Who knows, maybe the "Sweet Spinners" will even be playing for your grandparents. Their next stop will actually be at a nudist colony...hopefully they won't be playing for your grandparents there (Don't worry, Terry promises that no pictures will be posted from THIS venue!).

How to become the "Bestest Blog of the Day" "Bestest Blog of the Day" Archives Tales of Your Local Animal Shelter I love animals, especially dogs. In fact, my wife and I have 2 "dogters" of our own. That's why I had to write about this blog... Paige is an English major, turned career Animal Shelter Worker, who blogs about her daily life on the job. As you may have imagined, it's not a glamorous job and there is a lot of sadness involved. From failed adoptions to the blatant lies people tell , Paige tells it all on her blog. She's only had one happy post so far, well "happyish." Reading the truth about these poor animals makes you want to help them. Hopefully, I can help Paige raise a little awareness about what really goes down at these animal shelters. So please visit Paige at Tales of Your Local Animal Shelter and thank her for all the great work she's done. And if you have any money to spare, please consider donating

How to become the "Bestest Blog of the Day" "Bestest Blog of the Day" Archives Life is falling to pieces: an illustrated journal When blogs first started out, before everyone realized the versatility they offered, they were mostly journals. The length of my "Personal Blogs" category shows that there is still a strong portion of journals out there. The main problem with a blog as opposed to a traditional pad and pencil journal is the loss of the personal touch. Serena, however, has found a way to recapture the personal touch in her blog. Instead of typing out her daily thoughts, she jots them down on a piece of paper, complete with some impressive sketches, some personalized type-setting, and of course a mistake here and there. Then, she scans the paper and uploads it as an image onto her blog. GENIUS! At the time of publication, she was already up to Entry #38 and posting new ones almost daily. If you'd like to start at the beginning, and I high

Celebrate good times!

My Technorati Rank was finally updated (the first time since I started this blog mid-June) and I've already cracked the top 10,000 (9,041 to be exact). That may not sound TOO impressive, but considering they keep track of 1.4 MILLION blogs, I sure think it is! Thanks to everyone who has joined and helped me achieve this goal. I've had a lot of positive response from everyone. People who were afraid their blog would just get lost in the list have been surprised at how many visitors have been coming from the "Random Blog >>" button . The "Bestest Blogs of the Day" have been seeing huge support from my readers. Why, yesterday's winner, Woozie from "The Tome of Communism" , had a post receive over 100 comments. Granted, many of them were from him replying to other people, but still! I have a lot more ideas I'd like to implement to help everyone's voice get heard and I hope to put them into effect soon. Advertising Space

How to become the "Bestest Blog of the Day" "Bestest Blog of the Day" Archives So if you check my far-right sidebar (and let me just say, it was a bitch to figure out how to add that sidebar), you'll see that I'm selling some advertising space. First off, let me say that I am so happy that I found Adbrite and I'd recommend everyone to check it out if they want ads on their site. They also have contextual ads, just like Google Adsense, but you can't run both concurrently, it's against the Terms of Service. Anyway, when I entered my site stats, Adbrite recommended I start ads at $5 per day, and maybe someday I'll be able to aim so high, but for now, I am starting the ads at 1/10 of that price, 50 cents. So if you want 2500 unique visitors to see your ad for a day (100 characters of text total) at a ridiculous bargain price, check out the links. Thank you!

How to become the "Bestest Blog of the Day" "Bestest Blog of the Day" Archives Blogging For A Macbook MacGeek is a college student studying computers. Yet he is without the computer he desperately wants--a Macbook. To get that Macbook, he's gonna do whatever it takes. Click here to check out his introductory post. As I've said, I studied computers in college, and I DEFINITELY didn't have the best computer to do it with (nor do I have it now). I ended up spending most of my time in a computer lab working on my various projects. I wish I had had a sweet idea like this. Now, I don't have much money to be throwing around toward his cause, but I figured I could perhaps help him get some donations indirectly by featuring his blog here. Though, if you're really itching to donate to a blog, I'd be happy to accept your donations for this one: So, if you'd like to help a fellow blogger realize his dreams of owning a Macbook, check out Bloggin

In his blog, Kevin posts a fact on a different topic each day. And we're not talking some short little 10 word fact like they do on Snapple caps, these are interesting facts, with a bunch of good detail, and (the best part) helpful links to back them up and learn more. At the time of publication, here were some of the recent topics that Kevin found facts about: Alaska , jet fuel , Mormons , The Mona Lisa , baby singing , Munchausen syndrome . So, exercise your mind at Never Too Old To Learn . Don't be afraid to add some comments if you have a fact of your own on these topics, and as always, tell Kevin that "The Bestest Blog of All-Time" sent you.

How to become the "Bestest Blog of the Day" "Bestest Blog of the Day" Archives Intelligent Technology This is a perfect example of a really well-written blog with a lot of thought put into it, that (before joining up with my site here) not too many people were visiting. If you enjoy reading about cutting-edge technology--you know, the kind of stuff that 15-20 years ago, most people would've thought was damn-near impossible--then this blog is for you. I admit that I'm kind of a techno-geek, so I really enjoy Brian's posts on topics like robots and softward applications. One of my favorite pieces is a video he posted on self-replicating robots . Imagine a robot that was programmed to just create more self-replicating robots. You'd start with 1, then you'd have 2, then 4, 8, 16, 32, 64...! This kinda sounds like what happened to the human race in The Matrix . So be sure and check out Intelligent Technology before you're a slave to an army

There are a lot of things I like about this blog. Anyone who has a 'South Park' style picture for their profile is OK in my book. Ron recently passed the 100 posts milestone , and while I haven't read all of them, this celebratory post has to be one of the best (and what a cute picture too!). Ron posts movie reviews, a new feature called STITIS (Stuff That I Think Is Stupid), and frequent video clips, among other things. Plus, ladies, he has some videos and photos from his running career, if you're into that kinda thing. So, be sure to check out Rom Bramlett's blog, Rom Bramlett , and tell him that 'Bestest Blog' sent you. Leave some

How to become the "Bestest Blog of the Day" "Bestest Blog of the Day" Archives Tortilla Chips and Milk First off, what a name, really catches your attention. Why is it that milk is SOO good with some things (e.g. cereal, cookies) and so gross with other things (I'm thinking salty snacks like tortilla chips is near the top on this list). Anyway...Paj likes to blog about pop culture: TV shows, movies, music, you name it. One show he recently blogged about is NBC's "The Office." This basically made him a shoe in for "Bestest Blog of the Day" in my book. Not only do I love Steve Carrell, not only have I seen every episode of the British version (twice!), but I grew up in Scranton, PA, where the show is set. Paj does a great job of supplementing his posts with clips from the popular video hosting site, YouTube.com. One show that he seems to blog about a lot recently, he often abbreviates as "SYTYCD." If you figured out what th

How to become the "Bestest Blog of the Day" "Bestest Blog of the Day" Archives 21 Seconders "21 Seconders" is a video blog, as Skyler describes it "an inaudible digital show of thoughts and ideas all of which is shot in 21 seconds." In any case, I think it's a very unique concept for a blog, kinda reminds me of the old "Deep Thoughts with Jack Handey" bit from Saturday Night Live. It's hard to describe beyond that, but it seems his videos are getting funnier and more creative with time. My favorite video is his most recent (Episode 7, at the time of publication) that deals with a common thread between a tomato and the letter "Y". It took me a second to get, but once I did, I thought it was very witty. (If you need me to explain it, let me know, hahaha). My favorite episodes in order are: 7, 5, 3, 4, 6, and 2. (Episode 1 doesn't really count). I think that you need Quicktime to view his videos, so if you don&

How to become the "Bestest Blog of the Day" "Bestest Blog of the Day" Archives NNtB: Ringo's World NNtB stands for "Not Necessarily the Blank ," where each time the blank is filled in with a word beginning with the letter "B". Sometimes the posts are funny, sometimes they're angry rants, sometimes the topics are political, sometimes they're about movies or sports, but one thing is for sure, they're all very entertaining. I really enjoy blogs where each post has a unified theme like this one and Ringo does a great job of coming up with new topics almost daily. Sadly, Ringo will be gone from August through October, so I wanted to be sure that all my readers got a chance to experience his blog before he left. So, I suggest you go check out NNtB: Ringo's World and tell him that "The Bestest Blog of All-Time" sent you. Be sure to show Ringo some love and link him on your blog if you enjoy what you read!

How to become the "Bestest Blog of the Day" "Bestest Blog of the Day" Archives The "Not-So" News July 1st is finally here, and with it comes the inaugural edition of the "Bestest Blog of the Day." I've had a bunch of people tell me they liked my idea for this blog. So, I
